Women Rewriting the Nation: Gendered Violence in Colombian Narratives

Before social media, security concerns faced by women were represented through novels, which highlighted inequalities and human rights abuses affecting women and girls. The narratives also highlight systemic causes of increased risks for women, through lack of access to land ownership, education and legal protection. in 2010, Annie Mendoza published a summary of feminist literature dealing with the different forms of widespread violence that plagued Colombia. This campaign gave a voice to women who lived through those times and who still feel the lasting impact.
