Dr Elise Stephenson raises the profile of women who work to keep Australia safe, to counter the assumed narrative that national security is upheld by male and through masculine qualities. Female diplomats and members of parliament and security institutions provide female perspectives and networking opportunities for increased female participation in security. This is important because we need women in decision making security roles to create policies that protect women and address female-centric concerns.
