The healing effect for women survivors and their families

7th April 2023 marks 29 years since half a million women were subjected to rape, mutilation and murder in the 1994 Genocide. To coincide with the International Day of Reflection, Women for Women Rwanda and DreamStart Labs are launching a campaign for the financial inclusion of women. The country is healing from genocide and genocidal rape and now has the highest rate of female participation in politics (single-house parliament, figures as at start 2023). The real problems of families are understood by women and this increase in political representation has allowed the country to address these issues effectively.
