Mistreatment and neglect during childbirth campaign

Younger women were found to be 1.8 times more likely to experience physical abuse and uneducated women were 3.6 times more likely to experience verbal abuse during childbirth. 4.5% of observed women (2,016 in study) gave birth without an attendant at a health facility. 33.8% of women who requested pain relief did not receive any. There were also high level of unconsented procedures (10.8% C-section, 26.9% induction of labour, 56.1% episiotomy). This campaign advocates for a positive birthing experience for all women and girls regardless of their demographic.
