Globally the number of women in leadership roles grew from 33.3% in 2016 to 36.9% in 2022 but women only occupied 31% of boardroom roles across the EU in 2021. To address gender bias, the new quota is a campaign to have no less than 40% of leadership roles held by the minority gender (currently female).
